They conducted a study involving 200 men between the ages of 18 and 69 focusing on five key areas, crows feet, forehead lines, nasal-cheek furrows, sagging at the base of the face and shadows beneath the eyes. Their results revealed that forehead wrinkles were an early indicator of aging in men, but once these have started to appear they would continue so, slowing down between the ages of 50–55. Crows feet and shadows below the eyes tended to evolve slowly until c.50 years of age, after which time they seemed to progress much more quickly. Sagging below the face was something that appeared around the age of 40, but once present tended to develop rapidly. Furrows between the nose and cheek were very indicative of aging and something that developed progressively.

In recent years, there has been  a rise in the number of men turning to cosmetic surgery, with 2011 figures indicating that 1.1 million men underwent cosmetic procedures in the UK. Although, the majority of ops taking place for men tend to relate to specific areas such as rhinoplasty (nose jobs), and gynaecomastia (man boobs), a significant amount are becoming more an more concerned about the signs of aging and undergoing facelifts to make themselves look younger and more attractive.

Many men are now beginning to realise the value of looking after their skin earlier in life and it makes sense. Rather than waiting for the signs of aging to occur then attempting to remedy this through costly surgical procedures, employing a skin care routine sooner rather than later, can be a more efficient and cost effective approach to to minimising or slowing down the aging process and retaining younger, healthier looking skin.
